The plot is of around 1700 sq.yds. adjoining a waterbody to its south and west and is accessed from a 6 mts. wide road to the north. To the east is a residential plot. The shallow water body has seasonal tall grass and is a retreat to a variety of birds.
The basic requirements were to have two rooms, a verandah, a living room, a place to cook and store.
The design ensures comfort, though it requires minimum maintenance.
To the east is the landscape and the built form is to the west of the plot.
A curved path leads to the wide wooden steps merged with the landscape. The raised deck relates to the entire landscape. The wooden sills give an invitation to relax and be casual.
Inside is a compact island kitchen besides the working platform, living, and a small dining area. As a single space it generates warmth from being together.
The house is about clean lines, clear spaces, natural view and compact form.
The built form sets itself modestly on the landscape allowing a beautiful view of the sky in the background.
The total built area is within 122 sq.yds. distinctly compact yet spacious.
